Pat Murfet

Pat joined the club in the late nineteen seventies and has been a very active member, helping to organise many of the events and social occasions, particularly those involved with fund-raising for the club.

Pat is a supply teacher specialising in English and Special Needs. She marks English examination papers from schools in this country and abroad.

She reads crime novels and contemporary fiction. Naturally, she believes she has a best seller inside her just waiting to emerge: but all members think this of their own work. She has had short stories published in national magazines and broadcast on local radio. A few years ago, she won the Nottingham Evening Post short story competition, which was judged by the publishers Faber & Faber. Whilst appreciating poetry, she only dabbles in writing humorous doggerel which sometimes wins club competitions.

Other interests include the theatre, playing squash and bridge, watching cricket, and travel. She is determined to see the number of members of the Nottingham Writers’ Club double in the next five years.
